InstaSeq FAQ

What is and Why InstaSeq?

Ø     InstaSeq performs a search on the World-Wide-Web,

o       Not limited by finite databases, domains or servers…

Ø      You can actually enter a blunt (information-less) sequence data to search the World-Wide-Web...

o       A unique and one of its kind ‘search tool’ to do so

Ø      Success rate of document retrieval is vastly higher (> 75%) than a regular WWW search (barely above 0%)

Ø      Among searches returning any results, success rate of ‘relevant’ documents is again vastly higher

o       High possibility of locating documents other than sequence data e.g. other flat files like patent applications, personally hosted documents, presentations

Ø      More suited for finding instant information about any plain piece of nucleotide or peptide sequence

Ø      Use of the power and speed of Google™ search as backend.

Why not BLAST or other sequence alignment methods…

Ø      BLAST is complete and comprehensive to which a user ultimately returns to perform an exhaustive similarity search, InstaSeq is a QuickNCrude step before performing detailed sequence analysis

Ø      Questions that are answered…

o       BLAST and other sequence alignment methods answer 'how similar is my unkown/known sequence to other records in the existing databases?';

o       InstaSeq instantly answers 'Can I find any information about my unknown sequence at all?'
