Scholarships & Funding
The M.S. in Bioinformatics offers two main categories of scholarship support: program-administered scholarships and Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE)-administered scholarships.
In the current admissions cycle, the Bioinformatics program has offered more than $300,000 in scholarships.
Program-Administered Scholarships
The Bioinformatics program offers a limited number of program-administered partial tuition scholarships. All applicants are reviewed automatically for these awards. No separate scholarship application or extra paperwork is required.
Program-administered scholarship review and decision are made by the program, typically within 7 days of acceptance. Awards are based primarily on GPA and scholarly activity.
The program strives to offer competitive scholarship support. Admitted students who receive a stronger financial offer from another institution are encouraged to contact the Program Director.
BGE-Administered Scholarships
In addition to program-administered scholarships, BGE administers separate scholarship opportunities .
The Dean’s Excellence Merit Scholarship ($15,000 to $23,000) is offered to all incoming Master’s students with GPAs between 3.8 and 4.0. Because these scholarships are administered by BGE, eligibility criteria, deadlines, and award terms are determined by BGE rather than by the Bioinformatics program. Applicants should consult the official BGE scholarship page for current information before applying to the program.
A student will not receive both a Dean’s Excellence Merit Scholarship and a Bioinformatics program-administered scholarship.
